Description
Type A Aspirating Dental Syringe
The type a aspirating syringe is the plain, classic layout in our range. Cartridges of the usual 1.8 ml size drop in through a side window. A thumb ring sits at the back, and a spool-shaped finger grip sits up front. So it suits a dentist who wants a familiar tool with no surprises.
Why the spool grip matters
The spool shape gives two fingers a rounded seat on each side of the barrel. As a result, the syringe can turn a little in the hand without losing hold. That helps when you change the bevel angle or move from one side of the arch to the other.
Loading through the side window
First, draw the thumb ring fully back. Then drop the cartridge into the window, rubber stopper toward the harpoon. Next, push the ring forward until the harpoon bites into the stopper. Finally, fit a sterile disposable needle and check for free flow.
How the pull-back works
The harpoon hooks the stopper, so the plunger can pull as well as push. Once the tip is in place, a gentle tug on the ring draws back on the cartridge. If blood shows, you move the needle before you inject.
- Side window for quick cartridge swaps
- Thumb ring for push and pull in one hand
- Spool grip that lets the barrel roll
Blocks and infiltration
Many clinicians reach for this pattern for infiltration and for the inferior alveolar block. In both cases, a check before you inject is routine, and the ring makes that step easy.
Type A or Type C?
Both share the thumb ring and the cartridge size. However, the Type C swaps the spool for a curved finger flange. Pick the spool if you like to roll the barrel. Pick the flange if you want a firm, flat rest.
This type a aspirating syringe ships non-sterile, and you can reuse it after each round of cleaning and sterilisation. For its steel parts, the reference standard is ASTM F899. Every Type A syringe carries three years against manufacturing defects, spool grip included.
