Description
Tuffier Tissue & Organ Holding Forceps
The Tuffier tissue forceps hold tissue edges firmly with interlocking 4:5 teeth. At 13 cm, they suit superficial work in general and plastic surgery.
Teeth
Four teeth meet five on the opposite jaw. Consequently, the bite holds firm tissue such as skin edges and fascia.
Size of the Tuffier tissue forceps
Thirteen centimetres keeps the instrument light and precise. In addition, the ratchet holds the grip steady.
Typical uses
Surgeons use them on skin edges, fascia and tissue to be excised. They also help in breast and hernia work.
Technique
Catch the edge, close one click and pull steadily as you dissect.
Tuffier or Chaput
The Chaput has 2:3 teeth for a narrower bite. By contrast, the Tuffier spreads the grip a little more.
Minor surgery
Lumps and bumps lists use many short forceps. Additionally, the Tuffier fits those trays well.
Tuffier tissue forceps on fascia
Fascia is tough and slippery once wet. The interlocking 4:5 teeth bite into it securely, so the edge can be lifted while the surgeon places sutures during closure.
Spare pairs
Since short tissue forceps go through many cases a day, a spare set prevents delays when one tray is in reprocessing.
