Description
TG Chisels
TG chisels are straight-edged hand instruments from the periodontal section of the supplier catalogue. Unlike a curette, a chisel is pushed rather than pulled, which suits deposits on accessible proximal surfaces. Every chisel is checked by our people in Georgia ahead of dispatch, so US inspection is built into each order.
How a Push Stroke Works
First, the flat edge is placed against the tooth just beyond the deposit. Next, the clinician pushes it along the surface with a firm, short stroke. The deposit then lifts away in front of the blade. Because the action is a push, a chisel is often chosen where there is direct access, for example between anterior teeth. Also, a sharp chisel edge must stay flat against the surface, so a light, controlled hand matters more than strength. Keeping a chisel in the same cassette spot helps the team find it quickly.
Fig. ½, Fig. 1 and Fig. 2
The catalogue shows the TG chisels as Fig. ½, Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. These are three numbered patterns on one page. However, the catalogue gives no measurements or blade descriptions for any figure. So compare the photos of all three to see the blade widths and shapes before you decide.
About the Style 2 Option
Fig. ½ also appears with the Style 2 label, meaning a second handle pattern for that same figure. Since the printed listing stays silent on what sets this handle apart, look at both pictures and choose the grip that suits your hand.
All versions are stainless steel to ASTM F899 and leave us non-sterile; wash and sterilize them first. In addition, each TG chisel is guaranteed for three years against manufacturing defects.
Open the ASTM F899 page, explore Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, or add Sugarman periodontal files for heavier deposits. Answers about orders sit in our FAQs.
Periodontal chisels are for trained dental professionals. A flat edge needs honing guidance from care and sterilization, and shipments are explained on shipping and delivery.
