Description
Stille Gouge
The Stille gouge is a strong hollow blade for scooping bone and taking graft. It completes the Stille trio of chisel, osteotome and gouge.
Built for firm bone
The thick walls of the blade hold their curve under heavy blows. So the gouge keeps cutting a clean groove even in dense bone. Also, the steady shape gives predictable results case after case.
Width choices
It comes in 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm. Also, the narrow ones open small channels. Meanwhile, the 25 mm gouge removes larger volumes, such as cancellous graft from the pelvis.
Working with the Stille gouge
Hold the blade almost flat to peel off a shallow layer. For a deeper bite, raise the angle a little. Then clear the chip before the next stroke.
Harvesting graft with a gouge
First, open the outer cortex with an osteotome. Next, use the gouge to scoop cancellous bone in long curls. Because the curls stay intact, they pack well into the graft site.
Stille gouge widths
- 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm
- Thick-walled hollow blade
- Drive it by hand or with a mallet
- We dispatch it non-sterile
Care after use
Bone packs hard inside a gouge, so rinse it soon. After that, brush the curve and dry it well. Keep the edges guarded in the tray.
Guarantee in brief
Before we pack it, our Atlanta team checks the Stille pattern one at a time. If this gouge develops a workmanship problem, you keep three years against manufacturing defects. Our common questions page sums up delivery and returns. Further tools are in our orthopedic department. We gladly advise on choices for new trays. Many clinics stock an extra gouge for busy lists. For a companion tool, add our Stille osteotome. Steel for surgical tools has a written standard: ASTM F899.
Professional buyers only. Check the shipping page for courier choices. Shown images can vary a little. Also, the steel holds nickel; check the cleaning and care notes for the full note.
