Description
Stille Osteotome
The Stille osteotome is a robust, double-bevel blade for dividing bone. It belongs to the classic Stille family of bone tools, which also includes a chisel and a gouge.
Heavy enough for cortex
The blade keeps a thick spine behind a fine edge. Because of this, it resists bending under a firm mallet blow. Meanwhile, the twin bevels guide it straight down the line of the cut.
Four widths
Choose 10, 15, 20 or 25 mm. The narrow sizes suit a measured cut in smaller bones. By contrast, 25 mm crosses a broad surface quickly. Because all four share one handle style, the feel stays familiar as you change width mid-case.
Stille osteotome or chisel?
An osteotome splits bone along a line. A chisel, with one flat face, shaves bone level instead. Many surgeons therefore keep both Stille patterns on the same tray. A gouge completes the trio when bone needs to be scooped out rather than cut.
Getting a clean start
First, score the cortex lightly along the planned line. Next, deepen the cut with firm, even taps. Because the blade is thick, it seldom flexes, so the line stays true to the mark.
Stille osteotome widths
- Stille widths 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm
- Edge ground on both faces
- Arrives non-sterile; reprocess before first use
Edge care
Clean the blade straight after the case and dry it at once. Next, check the edge for nicks under a light. Store the four widths apart so they cannot knock together in transit.
Why we stand behind your osteotome
Each osteotome goes through a close look at our Atlanta base prior to packing. You get three years against manufacturing defects for each osteotome. Our order FAQ goes over most buying questions. The alloy in surgical tools follows a known standard, which is ASTM F899. Most clinics order two of these for busy lists. Visit the full orthopedic range for companion pieces. Looking for a size we do not list? Contact us and we will reply. For a close alternative, view the Stille chisel.
Sold to licensed professionals. Refunds show on the returns policy. Our care guidance notes picture variation plus the nickel in stainless steel.
