Description
Stille Chisel
The Stille chisel is a strong, single-bevel blade for leveling bone. It belongs to the well-known Stille family, alongside a matching osteotome and gouge.
Strength and control
A thick body backs up the fine edge. Therefore the blade resists twisting under a firm blow. The flat back, meanwhile, keeps the cut shallow and even.
Four widths
Pick 10, 15, 20 or 25 mm. A 10 mm blade trims a small step. In contrast, the 25 mm blade clears a wide surface with fewer blows.
Where the Stille chisel fits
Surgeons use it to remove osteophytes, flatten a graft bed and square a bone end. It also suits joint surgery where a level surface matters. The matching gouge then handles any hollows.
When to use the widest blade
The 25 mm Stille chisel covers a broad surface in a few strokes. Therefore it suits a flat cut across a bone end. For corners and edges, by contrast, switch to the 10 or 15 mm size.
Stille chisel widths
- 10, 15, 20 and 25 mm blades
- Single-bevel edge, flat back
- Robust body for mallet work
- Non-sterile when shipped
Edge and storage
Wash and dry the chisel after each case. Then look along the edge for nicks. Store the widths apart so the bevels do not touch.
How we back each chisel
Ahead of packing, our team in Atlanta handles the chisel piece by piece. Teams receive three years against manufacturing defects across the Stille pattern as standard. Many theaters keep one per tray to cover reprocessing time. Our FAQ section clears up payment questions. It pairs well with our Stille gouge. For the basics of surgical alloys, review ASTM F899. Companion options wait in the orthopedic collection. Want a bulk price? Write to us before you order.
