Description
Stille-Modified Martin Plaster of Paris Shear
The Stille plaster shear follows the Stille modified Martin pattern. It is a heavy, compound-action shear for cutting through plaster casts. You can choose 23, 25 or 38 cm.
Compound action
A compound joint multiplies the force of the hand. Therefore the shear cuts thick plaster with less effort. Moreover, long cuts become far less tiring.
Three Stille plaster shear lengths
The 23 cm size suits arm and child casts. Meanwhile, the 25 cm size handles most leg casts. Besides, the 38 cm size gives the most leverage for heavy and body casts.
Who uses the Stille plaster shear
Cast technicians use heavy shears to remove casts quickly. Also, orthopedic wards use them to split casts after surgery. Emergency rooms use them for urgent removals.
Cutting technique
Slide the lower blade under the cast, above the padding. Then cut in short bites, moving forward each time. Keep the lower blade flat against the limb.
Spare blades
A spare blade for each length is listed separately. Consequently, a worn blade does not mean a new shear. Ask us to match the blade to your length.
Choosing a length
Most cast rooms start with the 25 cm size. Later, they add the 38 cm shear for heavy casts. Furthermore, a 23 cm shear suits pediatric clinics.

Care
Brush plaster from the blades and joints after each use. Wash, dry and oil every pivot. Check that the blades meet cleanly.
When you order
Practices receive three years against manufacturing defects across each plaster shear by default. An inspector in Atlanta examines the Stille pattern under good light before the courier comes. Take a look at the spare blade for this shear. Busy surgical teams order a backup plaster shear to avoid delays. We gladly quote multiples for your clinic.
