Description
Stewart Probe
The Stewart probe is a periodontal probe sold here as one instrument, the same Stewart pattern we place in our instrument sets. It gives the hygienist or dentist a slim stainless steel tip for walking the sulcus and reading pocket depth. A member of our Georgia staff examines it before shipping, which keeps inspection in the United States.
How a Probe Reading Is Taken
First, the tip enters the sulcus parallel to the root surface. Next, it slides down with light pressure until it meets resistance. The clinician then reads the depth against the probe’s markings and moves around the tooth in small steps. Because every site is recorded, a steady, predictable probe makes charting faster and repeat visits easier to compare.
What the Name Tells You, and What to Check
The supplier catalogue lists this item simply as the Stewart probe, without a published marking scheme. For that reason, look closely at the product photo to confirm the tip shape and marks match the probe you already use. If you chart with a different system, keep this Stewart probe for its own pattern and stay with your usual probe for recorded readings. That way, numbers from one visit to the next stay comparable.
Steel, Cover and First Steps
The probe is stainless steel to ASTM F899. Like everything we sell, it carries our three years against manufacturing defects promise, starting the day it reaches the clinic. It also comes non-sterile; wash it, bag it and sterilize it before it goes on a tray.
Detail on the steel is in the ASTM F899 listing. For other probes, explorers and scalers, open Diagnostic, Periodontal & Restorative Instruments, or compare this pattern with our Williams periodontal probes. Our FAQs handle returns and lead times.
This probe is for trained clinicians and hygienists. Read care and sterilization before reprocessing and shipping and delivery for courier options.
