Sternberg Retractors
Good access in the mouth often depends on how well the soft tissue stays out of the way. The Sternberg retractor is a handheld pattern from the retractors section of our supplier catalogue. We carry it in three versions, each described below. Every piece receives a visual and hands-on check by our United States team prior to dispatch.
Single Ended or Double Ended at 14 cm
Two of the options share a 14 cm length. The 14cm Single Ended version has one working end and a plain handle, so it gives a simple, uncluttered grip. The 14cm Double Ended version, by contrast, has working ends at both sides. That means you can flip it over for a second profile without reaching for another tool. If you want fewer instruments on the tray, the double ended version is the practical pick.
When the 16 cm Version Makes Sense
The 16cm option adds two centimetres of overall length. As a result, your hand sits further from the patient’s face, which helps when an assistant holds the tissue for a while. The catalogue does not list a separate end style for it. So, compare its photo with the 14 cm versions before you decide.
Steel, Sterility and Warranty
Each Sternberg retractor is stainless steel. Since we ship it non-sterile, wash and autoclave the retractor before it reaches a patient. In addition, our cover on this retractor runs for three years against manufacturing defects. If anything about the three options is unclear, contact us before you buy.
The steel family behind surgical instruments is defined in the ASTM F899 standard. To compare more retraction tools, browse our Maxillofacial Surgery Instruments collection. Also, the Senn-Miller Retractors are a compact handheld alternative for finer work. Payment and delivery answers are in our FAQs.
