Description
Splinter Forceps with Magnifying Glass
These splinter forceps with magnifying glass carry a small lens on one arm. You see a tiny fragment enlarged while you close the tips on it.
Built-in lens
The lens sits above the working end on a short stem. So you look through it straight at the tips, with both hands still free for the task.
Fine points
The straight arms taper to fine pointed tips. As a result, they pick out slivers that are hard to see at a normal distance.
Two lengths
Both sizes suit a first aid kit or a clinic drawer. However, the 10.5 cm pair gives a little more room between lens and skin.
Who finds it useful
School nurses, sports trainers and home first aid users like the lens because they may lack a lamp. Also, older users who need reading glasses find it helpful. The lens gives modest magnification, enough to spot a fine splinter or thorn tip. Therefore it helps most in places without a magnifying lamp, such as a sports field or a campsite. Keep the instrument in a case, since a scratched lens loses clarity. Replace the pair if the lens ever loosens.
Cleaning splinter forceps with magnifying glass
Wipe the tips and the lens after use. Next, wash the forceps gently and rinse them. Then dry the lens with a soft cloth so it does not scratch.
