Description
Taylor Dressing & Tissue Forceps
Taylor forceps are a long, slim pattern used in neurosurgery and ENT. You can order them straight, curved or bayonet shaped.
Serrated or 1:2
Serrated tips hold dressings and suture. Meanwhile, 1:2 teeth grip tissue firmly.
Three shapes
Straight tips suit open work. By contrast, curved tips work around corners, while the bayonet offset moves your fingers away from the sight line.
Why bayonet
The offset arms let you look straight down the instrument. So the bayonet Taylor suits nasal and microscope work.
Choosing a shape
Reach for the bayonet Taylor for nasal and ear work, or under a microscope. Then add a straight Taylor for routine holding. Also, the curved version helps in deep, narrow fields. In addition, Taylor forceps suit dural and nasal work, where a slim tip matters. Meanwhile, the bayonet versions keep the microscope view clear. Therefore neurosurgery and ENT trays often carry both shapes. Also, the Taylor forceps help with dural closure and nasal packing. For example, a bayonet serrated pair suits nasal packing, while a straight 1:2 pair suits dural edges.
Cleaning Taylor forceps
Rinse the Taylor tips after use. Next, brush them and dry the forceps. Then store the bayonet versions so the offset arms do not bend.
