Description
Sinus Lift Concave Tip Osteotomes, Straight
This sinus lift osteotome is made for the crestal approach. The concave tip goes into the prepared osteotomy and is gently tapped apically. As a result, the thin sinus floor separates and lifts along with the bone packed ahead of the tip. The straight version keeps the shaft in line with the handle.
What the Hollow Tip Does
A concave face cups bone. So, as the osteotome advances, it pushes a small cushion of bone and graft against the floor rather than meeting it with a sharp edge. That cushion spreads the force of each tap across the membrane. In practice, many surgeons add graft between passes to keep that cushion in place.
The Five Tip Sizes
Tip diameters run 2.6 mm, 3.1 mm, 3.8 mm, 4.5 mm and 5.0 mm. Usually the 2.6 mm starts the sequence after the pilot drill. Then each larger tip widens the site a step at a time. Finally, stop at the size that matches the drill protocol of the implant you plan to place. Buying the full run of five avoids gaps in the sequence.
Straight Shaft or the Offset Twin
Straight shafts suit premolar and first molar sites, where you can line the handle up with the planned axis. However, a second molar site in a small mouth may push the handle into the opposing arch. In that case, the offset model on our related link below keeps the tip vertical while the handle angles away.
Sterility, Checks and Guarantee
Before dispatch, someone on our Atlanta staff in the U.S. compares every concave tip with the size marked on it. Because these osteotomes leave us without sterile packaging, decontaminate and steam sterilize them before the first sinus case. A crack or poor finish traced to production qualifies for repair or swap, since the set is warranted three years against manufacturing defects.
See the ASTM F899 steel standard for the material, or explore the full osteotome category. Molar sites often call for the offset concave tip osteotomes. Answers on orders and returns sit in our FAQs.
Crestal sinus work should be done only by trained implant clinicians. Our pages on sterilizing osteotomes and order delivery cover the rest.
