Description
Segond-Landau Hysterectomy Forceps
The Segond-Landau forceps is a hysterectomy clamp of about 23 cm. It follows the Segond-Landau pattern and grips pedicles before the surgeon divides them.
A pedicle clamp
Hysterectomy relies on clamping ligaments and vessels in order. So this clamp holds each pedicle while a tie or suture goes on. Then the surgeon moves on to the next level.
Length and reach
About 23 cm gives good reach for most open hysterectomies. Also, the length stays manageable for an assistant holding it. However, for deeper fields, the 25 cm Faure clamp adds reach.
Named patterns
Surgeons often learn on one named pattern and stay with it. Therefore, we stock both Segond and Segond-Landau versions. Meanwhile, the Heaney variants offer shorter options near 20 cm.
Stocking the tray
Most trays carry at least two Segond-Landau forceps, one for each side. Plus, a spare pair covers busy lists. Also, ask us about jaw details if you want to match an existing set. Also, pair it with a second clamp so each pedicle stays secure while you tie.
Reprocessing Segond-Landau forceps
Flush the clamp under running water as soon as the case finishes. Next, brush the jaws and the joint, then check the tips for alignment. Finally, dry it completely before it goes into sterilization.
