Description
Mikulicz Peritoneal Clamp Forceps 1/2th
The Mikulicz peritoneal clamp grasps and holds the peritoneal edges during abdominal closure. It has 1×2 teeth and comes in 18, 20 or 23 cm.
Role in closure
As the surgeon closes, the peritoneum can retract under the muscle layer. So the clamp keeps the edge in view for suturing. Also, several clamps around the wound hold it open evenly.
Several 20 cm patterns
Our listing includes more than one 20 cm pattern. Therefore check the pattern name on the product page before you order. Then we can confirm which one you need.
18, 20 or 23 cm
The 18 cm size suits shallow incisions. Meanwhile, the 23 cm size helps in a deeper abdomen. So most teams keep 20 cm clamps as the default.
Choosing a Mikulicz peritoneal clamp
For long midline wounds, pick the full-size pattern. However, a short incision may call for the Baby-Mikulicz. Plus, the 1×2 teeth stay the same across sizes, so the grip feels familiar at any length.
Cleaning Mikulicz peritoneal clamp
Inspect the teeth after each case for burrs that could snag drapes. Then clean the clamp in an ultrasonic bath and rinse with purified water. Finally, sort the clamps by length before sterilization.
