Description
Schwarz Wire Bending and Loop Forming Pliers
Schwarz bending pliers come in four options, so you can match the plier to the wire on hand. Three options take wire up to 0.70 mm (.028”). The Small pattern stops at 0.50 mm (.020”). Each one forms loops and bends in orthodontic and appliance wire.
Four Options at a Glance
- Graduated: wire to .028”
- Large: wire to .028”
- Medium: wire to .028”
- Small: wire to .020”
How to Pick Between Them
Start with the wire. If you work mostly in light wire, the Small option fits that range. For wire up to .028”, choose Graduated, Large or Medium. Then look at the photos to compare beak shape and length. The catalogue does not spell out more than that, so the pictures are your best guide. Each option ships on its own.
Removable Appliance Work
The Schwarz name links to removable appliance work in many labs. So a technician may keep this plier at the bench for springs and loops. Still, it also earns a place at the chair when a quick loop is needed in archwire.
Mixing Sizes in One Kit
Some clinics stock two options rather than one. For example, they keep the Small for fine wire and a Large for firmer bends. That way, nobody forces thick wire into a light plier. As a result, the tips last longer.
Daily Checks
Look at the beaks under good light after each wash. They should line up and close without a gap. If you see a gap, stop using that plier for fine loops. Also, keep the joint free of dried debris.
Condition on Arrival
Every option leaves us non-sterile. Once cleaned and run through sterilisation, it is ready for repeat use.
Whichever Schwarz bending pliers you choose, three years against manufacturing defects stands behind them. Its steel lines up with ASTM F899. Our orthodontic pliers and cutters hold more loop patterns, and the Schwarz arrow clasp plier pairs well for appliance clasps. Quick answers on orders live on our FAQ page.
