Description
Schwarz End and Side Nipper
The Schwarz nipper is a dental laboratory plier that cuts at the end and side. A bar bending function is built in too. We offer it in two lengths, so you can choose by the size of the work and your grip.
15cm or 13cm: picking a length
The 15cm option gives a longer handle. That usually means more leverage on firmer wire and bars. The 13cm option is shorter, so it can feel nimble on fine work and in a small hand. Each length is available on its own. If you split time between heavy and fine jobs, many labs keep one of each.
How the end and side cuts work together
The end cut trims close to a surface or a solder joint. Meanwhile, the side cut handles wire across its length. Then the bar bending function lets you shape the bar without reaching for another plier.
Rules for a sharp edge
- Cut only wire and bars within normal lab sizes.
- Keep the cut square, not twisted.
- Never use the edges to pry parts apart.
- Clean metal fragments off the jaws after use.
Lab workflow with the Schwarz nipper
In a typical case, you shape a clasp, then trim it to length. So the nipper and a bending plier tend to work as a pair. In addition, a flat nose plier helps you hold small parts while you cut.
Joint care
A drop of instrument lubricant keeps the joint smooth. Also wipe off old oil before it collects dust. If the handles start to feel loose, set the plier aside and contact us.
Each length ships non-sterile, and it remains reusable through routine cleaning and sterilization. The Schwarz pattern follows our specification, while staff in the United States carry out the last inspection. Its cutting jaws are stainless steel in line with ASTM F899. On both lengths, Intrace honours three years against manufacturing defects. Also view our orthodontic and lab range, the Martin-Diamant End and Side Nipper, or our help topics.
