Gosee Flat Nose Pliers
Our Gosee flat nose pliers are a laboratory plier with flat jaws. You use them to hold and bend wire and clasps. So they suit retainer, appliance and clasp work at the bench.
What flat jaws do well
Flat jaws grip wire along a broad surface. As a result, they hold it firmly without a sharp kink. They also let you make crisp, straight bends where a round beak would curve the wire.
Clasp and retainer jobs on the bench
Technicians often reach for a flat nose plier when they adjust a clasp arm or square up a wire end. For example, it helps when you seat a clasp tag into an acrylic base. In addition, it can hold small parts steady while you work on them.
Good bending practice
- Grip the wire close to the planned bend.
- Bend in small steps rather than one big move.
- Check the fit on the model after each step.
- Avoid gripping hard wire beyond its size range.
Pairing it on the lab bench
A flat nose plier does not cut. Therefore keep a nipper next to it for trimming. Also add a round or bird beak plier for loops. Then your bench covers holding, bending and cutting.
Keeping the jaws clean and true
Acrylic and metal dust can build up on the jaws. So brush them clean after use. After that, oil the pivot sparingly, and check that the jaws close flat and even.
The pliers come non-sterile; after scrubbing and sterilizing, they head back to the bench for more cases. Intrace has them made to our specification; each pair then gets checked by hand at our United States base. The flat jaws are stainless steel within ASTM F899. Our guarantee on the pliers runs a whole three years against manufacturing defects. To build out the bench, browse orthodontic and lab pliers, add the End and Side Nipper, or read our FAQ answers.
