Description
End and Side Nipper
This end and side nipper is a dental laboratory plier for cutting wire and bars. Because a bar bending function comes built in, you can trim at the end, trim at the side, and shape a bar with one tool.
10cm or 13cm
The 10cm option is the compact length. It suits fine wire and small hands, and it fits a crowded bench drawer. The 13cm option gives a little more reach and leverage for firmer work. You can buy each length separately. If in doubt, think about the wire you cut most often and choose for that.
Lab jobs it covers
Technicians use a nipper like this to trim clasp wire, cut retainer wire to length, and tidy bar ends. In addition, the bar bending function helps when a bar needs a small adjustment. As a result, there are fewer tool changes on each case.
Cutting safely and cleanly
- Wear eye protection when you trim wire.
- Hold the offcut so it does not fly.
- Keep within the wire sizes your lab normally uses.
- Clean the jaws before you put the nipper away.
Choosing among our lab nippers
We list several lab nipper patterns. However, this one is our plain, general pattern, with the two most compact lengths. So it makes a good first nipper for a new bench. Later you can add a named pattern if your technicians prefer one.
Edge and hinge upkeep
Edges dull faster when they cut hard wire at an angle. Therefore cut straight across. Also give the hinge a little oil each week, and wipe away the excess.
The nipper is supplied non-sterile; when your lab cleans and sterilizes it, it goes straight back into use. We source it to our specification, and a member of our United States team inspects it. The compact jaws are stainless steel that match ASTM F899. Either length is protected by three years against manufacturing defects from Intrace.
