Description
Martin-Diamant End and Side Nipper
The Martin-Diamant nipper is a dental laboratory plier for wire and bar work. It cuts at the end and at the side. On top of the two cuts sits a bar bending function, letting one tool trim and shape in the same session.
A lab tool, not a chairside cutter
This nipper belongs on the lab bench. For example, technicians use it when they fit wire and bars on removable and prosthetic work. Because it is a lab plier, keep it apart from your clinical cutters. Then each set stays in its own workflow.
End cut, side cut, then bend
The end cut lets you trim close to a surface. The side cut handles longer runs of wire. After that, the bar bending function helps you shape a bar without changing tools. In practice, that saves a few steps on every case.
Bench habits that protect the edges
- Cut within the wire and bar sizes your lab normally uses.
- Hold the work firmly so it does not twist in the jaws.
- Keep cut ends pointed away from your face.
- Wipe metal dust off the joint at the end of the day.
Where it fits with other lab pliers
A nipper does the trimming. However, fine bending still needs a flat nose or round plier. So most labs keep the Martin-Diamant nipper beside a flat nose plier. Together they cover most clasp and bar jobs.
Joint care for a long life
A lab plier works hard. Therefore oil the pivot lightly every few weeks. Also check that the edges still meet; a gap means the nipper will crush rather than cut.
Lab or clinic, the nipper arrives non-sterile; if your policy calls for it, clean and sterilize it and reuse it as often as needed. We supply it to our own specification, with a last look by Intrace staff in the United States. Nipper jaws are stainless steel consistent with ASTM F899. Every Martin-Diamant order carries three years against manufacturing defects as standard Intrace cover.
