Description
Schure Band Seater
The Schure band seater is a classic pattern for pressing bands home. You use it after you fit and shape the band. It gives steady force so the band reaches its planned height. There is just one version on this page.
A Classic Banding Pattern
Many clinicians learned banding with a Schure seater. As a result, it still shows up on trays in many offices. If you know the pattern, you will feel at home with this one. If not, check the photo to see its form.
Seating Molar Bands
Molar bands often need the most force. So place the seater on the band edge and press firmly. Then shift to the next spot and press again. Work around the tooth until the band sits level.
Seater or Pusher?
Both tools seat bands, yet they feel different in use:
- A seater like this one suits firm, steady pressure.
- A hand pusher gives fine control for small moves.
- Many teams use both in the same visit.
Protecting the Patient
Warn the patient before you press. Also keep a finger on the opposite side of the tooth to steady the force. In practice, slow pressure is more comfortable than sudden pushes.
Wiping and Checking
Remove cement while it is soft, then rinse. Next, look at the working end for nicks. Also dry the seater fully before sterilizing, because trapped water can leave spots.
Schure Seater Order Facts
This seater matches our own spec, and a staff member in the United States checks it before it goes out. Its stainless steel sits within ASTM F899. Factory faults fall under a term of three years against manufacturing defects. It comes non-sterile; washing and sterilizing it gets it ready for the next chair. For fine moves, add our orthodontic band pushers. See our orthodontic range online or check the frequently asked questions.
