Description
Schindler Peritoneal Clamp Forceps 1/2th
The Schindler peritoneal clamp holds the edges of the peritoneum during abdominal surgery. It measures 20 cm and has 1×2 teeth.
Holding the peritoneal edge
Once the surgeon opens the abdomen, the peritoneum tends to slip out of view. So the clamp grasps its edge and keeps it where the team can see it. Then the edge stays ready for closure at the end of the case.
1×2 teeth
One tooth on one jaw meets two on the other. Therefore the clamp keeps a secure hold on thin tissue. Also, the bite stays at the tip, where the edge sits.
A 20 cm length
At 20 cm, the clamp rests outside the incision without crowding it. Meanwhile, it still reaches edges on deeper incisions. So it suits both lower and midline openings.
Using several clamps
Surgeons often place several peritoneal clamps around the incision. That way the edges stay spread evenly. Plus, a set of Schindler peritoneal clamps makes that simple to arrange.
Reprocessing Schindler peritoneal clamp
Separate the clamps after use so the teeth do not snag on other instruments. Then soak them briefly and brush the teeth clean. Also, check each tip for bent teeth before you pack the set.
