Description
Schaedle Towel Clamp, 9 cm
Drapes that slip during surgery break the sterile field. This schaedle towel clamp is a small 9 cm clamp that pins layers of drape together, or fixes tubing to them, so the setup stays put through the case. It sits low and light, which makes it easy to place near the face.
The Cross-Action Design
Schaedle clamps are a cross-action pattern. Instead of locking ring handles, the arms cross and spring closed on their own. To open it, you squeeze the arms together; then you release, and the points close on the fabric. Because there are no rings or ratchet sticking out, the clamp is less likely to catch on gloves, lines or the drape itself.
Why Size Matters Near the Face
Head and neck drapes leave little room. At 9 cm, the Schaedle therefore fits along the hairline, under the chin or beside the nose without adding bulk. In addition, its light weight means it does not drag the drape downward when the patient moves.
Typical Placements
- Joining two drape edges around the mouth or face.
- Securing suction or irrigation tubing to the drape.
- Anchoring a towel over the eyes or forehead.
The supplier catalogue lists the Schaedle among its haemostatic forceps and towel clamps at 9 cm. Compare the photos with the ring-handled Jones clamp to see which style suits your team.
Schaedle Inspection and Sterility
The clamp is stainless steel, and a US inspector tests the spring tension and point alignment before boxing. It is delivered unsterilized, so wash and autoclave the Schaedle along with the rest of your draping kit. Cross-action clamps on this page carry three years against manufacturing defects, spring action included.
