Description
Satinsky Atrauma Cardiovascular Tangential Occlusion Clamp
The Satinsky clamp takes a side bite of the aorta or vena cava. That way, blood keeps flowing through the vessel while the surgeon works on the held portion.
Tangential occlusion
This pattern grips only part of the vessel wall rather than the whole circumference. So flow continues through the rest of the lumen. Surgeons often use it when sewing a graft onto the side of the aorta.
Five lengths
Sizes run 20.5, 24, 25, 26.5 and 27.5 cm. Meanwhile, the longer sizes reach deep into the chest with room to spare. The 20.5 cm version suits shallower access and smaller patients.
An atraumatic grip
The jaws hold firmly enough to keep the side bite secure. However, they avoid crushing, which leaves the wall ready for suturing. That balance has made it a fixture of cardiac trays.
Choosing a length
Consider patient size and surgical approach before ordering. In addition, a 25 or 26.5 cm size suits many adult cases. Then add the 27.5 cm length for the deepest fields.
Cleaning Satinsky clamp
Flush the curve of the jaws right after use, where blood tends to collect. Next, process the instrument open and check that no residue remains in the bend. Last, dry it and give it a slot long enough for its full length.
