Description
Root Canal Explorers
Before shaping begins, an endodontist must find every canal opening on the pulp floor. A root canal explorer has a long, fine tip that probes the floor and catches on an orifice that the eye may miss. Intrace USA, an Atlanta distributor, offers eleven catalogue figures here, and every figure is examined by our people in the United States before shipping out.
Single Figures and Double-Ended Pairs
In the catalogue, a single number names one working end, while a slash pairs two ends on one handle. So a double-ended figure puts two tips within reach without a tray change. The page offers these choices:
- DG 16: a widely used endodontic explorer pattern, also found in our sets.
- Fig 2, Fig 2A and Fig 3: single figure numbers. The A suffix marks a catalogue variant.
- One pairing in two catalogue versions: Fig 23/17 and Fig 23/17A.
- Fig 16/23 and Fig 16/3: two pairings that share one end.
- Three pairings built on a common end: Fig 6/1, Fig 6/17 and Fig 6/23.
Choosing Your Figure
First, match the figure your endodontic training or tray list specifies. When no figure is named, DG 16 is a familiar starting point. Next, compare the photos, since the catalogue shows the tip shapes but gives no lengths. In addition, clinicians who treat many molars often prefer a double-ended pair for speed.
Protecting the Fine Tip
A bent root canal explorer stops catching where it should. Therefore, store each one in a slot of its own, away from heavier forceps. Explorers arrive non-sterile, so wash and steam them before the first access. Any figure you pick is warrantied three years against manufacturing defects.
Each tip and handle is cut from steel sourced to ASTM F899. Browse more endodontic hand tools in our diagnostic and restorative listings, pair your explorer with a Spreader For Lateral Condensation for the obturation stage, or read our store FAQs.
Offered to trained endodontic and general dental professionals only. Our endodontic instrument care page and parcel delivery page explain the next steps.
