Description
Rochester-Pean Artery Forceps
Rochester-Pean forceps are heavy hemostats with full-length transverse serrations. They clamp large vessels and tissue bundles.
Standard pattern
The standard pattern runs from 14 to 30 cm. Therefore one family covers everything from superficial vessels to deep pelvic pedicles.
Delicate pattern
The delicate pattern has slimmer jaws in 13, 14 and 16 cm. So it suits finer work where the standard jaw feels bulky.
Straight or curved
Every size comes straight or curved. For example, curved jaws help you clamp beneath a structure.
Clamping a pedicle
Place the jaws across the pedicle with the tips just past the far edge. Then close the ratchet fully, so the serrations grip along the whole length. Also, a second clamp often goes on beside the first before division. As a result, the cut edge stays controlled while you tie.
Reprocessing Rochester-Pean forceps
Because the jaws are broad, debris collects in the serrations. Therefore brush along the jaw, then rinse and dry before the steam cycle.
