Pean (Murphy) Artery Forceps
Pean Murphy forceps are a serrated artery forceps in 14 and 16 cm. They belong to the wider Pean family of hemostats.

The 14 cm size suits superficial vessels. On the other hand, the 16 cm size gives extra reach.

The transverse serrations grip vessels and tissue securely without teeth.

Everyday use
Surgeons use Pean forceps to clamp vessels before ligation and to hold tissue for traction. In addition, they suit general and gynaecological trays. Because the jaws are sturdy, they tolerate repeated use on firm tissue. Because the jaws carry no teeth, they suit vessels and delicate pedicles. Meanwhile, the two lengths cover shallow and moderately deep work. Therefore a pair of each makes a practical starting point for a general tray.

Brush the serrated jaws and the box joint after use. Next, rinse, dry and apply a little instrument lubricant to the joint.
