Description
Robb Intima Spatula
The Robb endarterectomy spatula helps surgeons separate plaque from the artery wall. Each one measures 24 cm and has a working tip at both ends.
Robb endarterectomy spatula: four figures, eight tip widths
Figure 1 has tips of 2.5 and 5.0 mm. Next, Figure 2 carries 2.0 and 4.0 mm, and Figure 3 carries 1.5 and 3.0 mm. Finally, Figure 4 offers the finest tips at 1.0 and 2.0 mm.
Double-ended design
Each spatula carries two tip widths, one at each end. So the surgeon can switch width by turning it around. Also, that cuts down on instrument changes during a delicate stage of the case.
Picking a figure
Larger arteries often suit the wider tips on Figure 1 or 2. By contrast, smaller vessels call for Figure 3 or 4. Therefore, many vascular sets include the whole run from Figure 1 to Figure 4.
How it works
The surgeon slides the tip into the plane between plaque and the arterial wall. Then they ease the plaque free along the vessel. In that case, the Robb endarterectomy spatula lets them choose a width to match the vessel.
Cleaning Robb endarterectomy spatula
Clean both tips carefully, since narrow tips pick up tissue easily. Then inspect them under magnification for nicks. Store the set with the figures in order so staff can find each width.
