Description
Rigby Retractor
The Rigby retractor measures 18 cm and comes with one of three blade sizes. Surgeons use it to hold tissue edges back and keep the field in view.
Three blade sizes
The 35 x 20 mm blade suits shallow wounds where a short, broad edge works best. Next, the 60 x 20 mm blade reaches further while keeping the same width. Finally, the 65 x 15 mm blade gives the deepest reach on the narrowest face.
Why length matters
At 18 cm, the instrument keeps your hand clear of the wound. Also, the moderate length gives good control without much strain. So it fits a wide range of routine cases.
Width versus depth
A wider blade holds more tissue back at once. However, a narrow blade slips into tighter openings with less disturbance. Therefore, match the blade face to the size of the incision.
Ordering by blade
Each listing covers one Rigby retractor with the blade size you select. Plus, many teams keep two sizes on the same tray. That way, the right depth sits ready when the field changes.
Looking after Rigby retractor
Rinse blood from the blade face soon after use, before it dries. Then wash it by hand or in a washer, paying attention to the blade edges. Also, let it dry fully before it goes back on the tray.
