Description
Doyen Retractor
The Doyen abdominal retractor is a hand-held retractor for the abdominal wall and bladder. An assistant holds it to keep the field in view.
Doyen abdominal retractor: 25 cm model
The 25 cm version has a 50 x 85 mm blade. So it suits smaller patients and shallower fields. Also, its shorter length gives the assistant close control.
28 cm models
The 28 cm version carries 55 mm wide blades. Next, you choose a depth of 95, 105, 115 or 125 mm. Therefore, one pattern covers a range of body sizes.
Wall and bladder
Surgeons place the blade against the abdominal wall to widen the view. In addition, it can hold the bladder away during pelvic work. Then the field stays clear for the operator.
Hand-held control
Because a person holds it, the Doyen abdominal retractor can shift angle during the case. However, that also ties up a pair of hands. So some teams pair it with a self-retaining frame.
Reprocessing Doyen abdominal retractor
Rinse the blade and handle straight after the case to stop fluid drying on them. Then run the instrument through your usual wash cycle. Once dry, it can rest flat on a shelf or in its tray.
