Description
Prichard ½ Universal Perio Curette
The Prichard curette is a surgical curette, not a scaling instrument. Its scoop-shaped tip removes granulation tissue and debris from periodontal defects and sockets. This ½ universal version is a single pattern, so there is nothing to select beyond adding it to your tray.
Clearing a Defect Before Grafting
Grafts need clean bone walls. So, after the flap is raised, the curette scoops soft tissue out of an intrabony defect or an extraction socket. Firm strokes against the walls lift the tissue, while the scoop carries it out of the site. Then irrigation flushes away what remains.
What Universal Means for You
A universal pattern works on more than one surface. As a result, you can turn the same curette toward mesial or distal walls without changing instruments. That versatility makes it a good single choice when tray space is limited. In practice, it often sits beside a periosteal elevator and a pair of tissue forceps as the core of a small flap kit.
Implant Site Uses
Extraction sockets slated for an implant must be free of soft tissue. Therefore, many surgeons curette the socket thoroughly before placing a graft or an immediate fixture. The Prichard is also useful when a failed implant is removed and the site needs debridement.
Checked in Georgia, Guaranteed for Years
Our Atlanta staff in the United States examine the scoop edges on every Prichard curette before dispatch. Because it is delivered unsterilized, clean out the scoop and autoclave the curette before use. In addition, this curette carries our assurance of three years against manufacturing defects whenever the fault lies in materials or production.
Steel quality follows ASTM F899. Visit the periodontal and restorative category for related tools, and add the Prichard periosteal elevators for raising the flap. Questions on orders go to our FAQs.
