TG Periodontal Chisels
Periodontal and implant surgeons sometimes need to shave bone in thin, precise layers. A tg periodontal chisel handles that work by hand, with more feel than a rotary bur. Our supplier lists the TG patterns in its bone spreading mallets and chisels section. This page offers two of them, TG and TG-O.
TG Versus TG-O
The catalogue names these chisels Perio-Chisel-TG and Perio-Chisel-TG-O. Beyond the labels, it gives no written dimensions. So we recommend you compare the two working ends in the product photos. Then pick the one whose angle and blade match your approach to the site.
Hand Chisels Around Teeth and Implants
Close to roots or an implant shoulder, a bur can remove more than intended. In contrast, a chisel lets the clinician take bone one stroke at a time. It is useful for osseous recontouring and for removing ledges after a flap is raised. In addition, it can refine a ridge before implant placement.
Push Strokes and Mallet Use
Most clinicians use these chisels with steady hand pressure. However, denser cortical bone may call for light taps from a mallet. Keep the bevel oriented toward the bone you want to keep. Then advance in short strokes and check progress often.
Inspection, Sterility and Warranty
Both patterns are stainless steel, and our team in the United States inspects the edges before packing. The chisels come non-sterile, so clean and sterilize them, and keep the cutting edge protected in the cassette. For TG and TG-O alike, we honor three years against manufacturing defects.
The steel meets the ASTM F899 requirements for surgical instruments. Find related cutting tools in Dental Implant Instruments. For tapping, add the Surgical Mallet, 16.5 cm. Our FAQs handle ordering questions.
These chisels are for trained periodontal and implant professionals. See our sterilization guide and shipping details.
