Description
Pelvic Reposition Forceps
These pelvic reposition forceps help reduce and hold fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum. Prongs grip the bone so fragments can be pulled into line.
Prongs for purchase
Pelvic bone is broad and often slippery. Therefore pointed prongs bite into the cortex and resist slipping. Two or three prongs spread the grip across a wider area.
Six versions
The standard pattern comes at 36 cm. Two-prong straight versions come at 25 cm and 41 cm, while two-prong angled versions come at 18 cm and 23 cm. There is also a three-prong straight version at 40 cm.
Where pelvic reposition forceps help
Pelvic and acetabular surgeons use them during open reduction. They also help in complex hip revisions. Long versions reach across the pelvis from a single incision.
Choosing straight or angled
Straight forceps pull along the line of the handles. Meanwhile, angled forceps reach around the curve of the pelvis. Many pelvic sets therefore carry several versions.
Controlled reduction
Seat each prong in solid bone before pulling. Then move the fragment gradually while watching the fracture line. Once aligned, hold position while fixation goes in.
Pelvic reposition forceps versions
- Standard, 36 cm
- Two prongs, straight: 25 cm or 41 cm
- Two prongs, angled: 18 cm or 23 cm
- Three prongs, straight: 40 cm
Prong care
Clean around each prong tip, where bone and blood collect. After drying, oil the joint. Check that the prongs remain sharp and aligned.
Order essentials
Practices receive three years against manufacturing defects covering each forceps. Every forceps receives a final review in Atlanta before shipment. The FAQ page deals with typical order queries. Often bought with it is our patella reposition forceps. Larger clinics keep a spare forceps for busy lists. Extra designs appear in our orthopedic collection. Want advice on options?
