Description
Partsch Mallet, Lead Filled
Bone chisels and osteotomes need a steady, measured tap, not a hard strike. This Partsch lead filled mallet provides that tap through a weighted head on a 19 cm handle. Its filled head carries weight where it matters, so a short wrist movement delivers useful force. As a result, the surgeon can advance a chisel in small, predictable steps.
What Lead Filling Changes
A hollow or solid steel head tends to bounce back after impact. Filling the head with lead adds mass and dampens that rebound. So more of each blow travels into the chisel instead of springing back into the hand. Surgeons often describe the result as a duller, more controlled feel.
A 19 cm Handle for Close Work
At 19 cm, the Partsch is short enough for work near the mouth yet long enough for a full grip. The surgeon or assistant can hold it close to the head for gentle taps. Alternatively, they can slide further back for a firmer stroke. That range makes it suitable for tasks like these:
- splitting or removing bone with a Partsch or similar chisel
- sectioning teeth with an osteotome
- ridge procedures where small controlled advances matter
Who Holds the Mallet
In many oral surgery teams, the assistant strikes while the surgeon guides the chisel. Therefore, clear communication about force matters more than raw weight. Because a lead filled mallet carries its own weight, light taps usually suffice. Practice on a model first if your team is new to the pattern.
Arrival, Inspection and Warranty
Our United States staff examine every Partsch mallet for a secure head and a sound handle before it goes out. It ships non-sterile, so clean the striking faces and handle, then sterilize it before surgery. If the head loosens from a production flaw, the mallet is covered for three years against manufacturing defects.
