Description
Partsch Bone Chisel
Removing an impacted tooth or opening a cortical window sometimes needs a controlled split instead of a bur. The Partsch bone chisel is a flat-bladed chisel struck with a surgical mallet. It lets an oral surgeon split bone along a planned line. We offer it in two lengths and four blade widths, eight versions in total.
Two Lengths, Four Widths
The option names pair a length with a blade width. So “13.5cm / 4mm” means a 13.5 cm instrument with a 4 mm blade.
- 13.5cm: shorter, for anterior and premolar sites where a long shaft gets in the way.
- 17cm: longer, for molar and ramus areas, and for keeping the mallet hand clear of the face.
- 3mm, 4mm, 5mm, 6mm: narrow blades start a cut or work in tight spots; wider blades remove more bone per strike.
Many surgeons buy a narrow and a wide blade in the length they use most.
Seating the Blade Before Each Strike
Accuracy starts before the mallet moves. First, mark the cut line with a bur or the corner of the blade. Then seat the edge in that groove. Next, tap lightly and check direction after every few strikes. Because force travels along the shaft, keep the opposite jaw supported by an assistant’s hand.
Chisel or Gouge?
A flat chisel cuts a straight line, so it suits splitting and sectioning. However, a gouge scoops a curved channel instead. If your procedures need both, our matching Partsch gouge comes in the same eight sizes.
Received Non-Sterile, Inspected in the USA
Each blade is examined for chips and straightness by our people in the United States. It travels non-sterile, so decontaminate and autoclave it before the first strike. Furthermore, every length and width carries three years against manufacturing defects; mallet wear on the striking end is normal use.
Its steel matches ASTM F899. Drive it with our 16.5 cm surgical mallet, browse other maxillofacial surgery instruments, or read the FAQs on blade sizing.
Intended for oral and maxillofacial surgeons and trained staff. Blade storage guidance is in care and sterilization; parcel timing is in shipping and delivery.
