Orban Knives

Description

Orban Knives

The Orban knife is a classic periodontal blade for cutting soft tissue between teeth. Its slim, pointed profile slips into the interdental area where broader knives cannot go. Implant teams also use it to release papillae and refine tissue around a healing site. We offer three versions on this page: Standard, ½ Long and ½ Short.

Standard Orban Knife

The Standard version comes from the catalogue’s periosteal and periodontal knife group. It sits beside the Kirkland knife in that section. Choose it if you want the traditional Orban pattern for routine gingival work.

½ Long and ½ Short From the Micro Series

The other two belong to the catalogue’s micro surgery and tunneling instruments. Both measure 17.2 cm overall. As their names suggest, the ½ Long reaches further, while the ½ Short keeps the blade closer to your fingers. So the Long suits posterior papillae, and the Short gives extra control in the anterior. Compare the photos to see the blade proportions of each.

Matching the Knife to the Procedure

Consider where most of your incisions happen. For instance, a periodontist doing gingivectomies may prefer the Standard. In contrast, surgeons using tunneling techniques often favor the micro versions. They share the 17.2 cm length of other tunneling tools.

Protecting a Fine Point

The tip is the whole instrument. Thus store it in a slotted cassette and never let it rest point down on a tray.

The blade steel satisfies ASTM F899 for surgical stainless. In the United States, we inspect each Orban point under good light before it ships. Our Orban guarantee spans three years against manufacturing defects, whichever of the three Orban versions you pick. Browse Diagnostic, Periodontal and Restorative Instruments for related blades, and consider the Kirkland Knife for broader gingivectomy cuts. Common questions are covered in the FAQs.

For use only by trained dental professionals. Orban knives arrive non-sterile, so follow our care and sterilization steps before the first incision. Shipping speed is explained on Shipping and Delivery.
