The Mod-Martin cotton applicator has a fine thread cut into its tip. Because the cotton winds into the thread, it holds firmly and comes off cleanly afterwards, so the Mod-Martin cotton applicator suits repeated ENT use through a busy clinic.

Thread versus texture

A threaded tip locks the cotton in a spiral, whereas a roughened tip such as the Farrell simply grips it. As a result, the thread resists twisting off when you rotate the applicator in the canal. On the other hand, it takes a little more care to clean.

Choosing a Mod-Martin cotton applicator

Pick 12 cm for the ear, 14 cm for general use, and 16 cm for deeper nasal work. The manufacturer’s price list also shows tip sizes of 1.2 mm and 1.5 mm in this pattern, so ask us if you need a specific one.

Care

Unwind the cotton after use, and then clean the thread with a fine brush. Dry the applicator fully before you sterilize it to your protocol.
