Mills Sinus Lift Instruments
The Mills sinus lift instrument series covers the delicate part of a lateral window graft. After the bony window is open, the membrane must be freed and raised without tearing. These instruments are meant for that task. The catalogue lists three patterns, #1, #2 and #3, in its sinus lift section.
Three Numbers, Three Working Ends
The catalogue names the patterns only by number. It does not describe the tips in words. Therefore, the Mills photos on this page are the clearest way to judge tip curvature. In most sinus sets, one tip starts the release at the window margin. Others then follow the floor and walls deeper in the cavity.
Why Surgeons Often Buy the Full Series
The sinus is not a flat space. As you advance, the angle you need keeps changing. So a single tip rarely reaches every wall. With all three Mills patterns on the tray, you can switch shape instead of forcing one instrument around a corner.
Working Gently on the Membrane
Keep the tip in contact with bone at all times. Next, lift in short, sweeping moves rather than pushing straight up. Also pause often to look at the membrane through the window before going further. If you are new to the pattern, practice on models before live cases.
All three are stainless steel conforming to ASTM F899. Before shipment, our United States staff look closely at each Mills tip for smoothness. You also get three years against manufacturing defects for #1, #2 and #3 individually. Visit Dental Implant Instruments for related tools, and reach the far walls with our Sinus Lift Curettes.
