Malleable Cotton Carrier

A malleable cotton carrier is a slim rod that you can bend by hand. You wind a wisp of cotton onto the textured tip, shape the shaft to the angle you need, and then apply medication or clean an area that a straight applicator cannot reach.

Why malleable

Ears, noses and some wounds are not straight. So a shaft you can bend lets you follow the curve instead of forcing a rigid tool around it. In addition, you can reshape the same carrier between patients, which saves stocking several fixed curves.

Choosing a length of malleable cotton carrier

The 12 cm length suits the ear canal and the front of the nose. By contrast, 14 cm and 16 cm give more reach for deeper nasal work and for wound care. If you are unsure, the middle length covers most uses.

Care

Remove all cotton before cleaning, because fibres trap debris on the tip. Then wash and dry the carrier. Avoid bending it at the same point again and again, since repeated bends weaken the metal.
