Description
Liston Bone Cutting Forceps
Liston bone cutting forceps are the classic single-action cutter for bone. Two sharp jaws meet edge to edge and snip through ribs and small to medium bones.
A classic action
Robert Liston was famous for speed and skill in the operating room. In addition, these forceps carry the name and the simple, direct action of that era. The handles act as long levers, so the jaws close with real force.
Many lengths
Straight versions come at 15, 17, 19 and 23 cm. Curved versions come at 15, 17, 19, 22 and 23 cm. Therefore you can match the reach and angle to each bone.
Straight or curved Liston bone cutting forceps
Straight jaws cut in line with the handles, which suits open, flat access. By contrast, curved jaws reach around a bone or into a recess. Also, many trays hold one of each.
Who uses them
Orthopedic surgeons trim bone ends and fragments. Additionally, thoracic surgeons cut ribs. Meanwhile, hand and foot surgeons use the shorter lengths on small bones.
Building a Liston set
Most general trays need just one or two Liston cutters. For example, a 17 cm straight and a 19 cm curved pair covers many cases. Later, the longer 22 and 23 cm models extend reach for larger bones.
Liston bone cutting forceps options

Joint and jaw care
Open the forceps fully and brush the box joint, where bone dust gathers. Dry it, then add a drop of instrument lubricant to the joint. Confirm that both jaws close evenly along their length.
