Description
Light Wire Bending Pliers, .020″
Fine wire calls for fine beaks. Our light wire bending pliers handle wire up to .020″, so they suit light round wires, small loops and quick tweaks at the chair. They also make a good first plier for a new operatory.
Built Around a .020″ Limit
The name gives the limit, and it matters. Light beaks bend thin wire with control. But thicker wire can open the tips or mark them for good. So keep a heavier plier nearby for anything past .020″.
Tasks It Handles Well
- Small loops and helices in round wire.
- Minor first-order bends to fine-tune one tooth.
- Bending the ends of light wire springs and auxiliaries.
Light Wire Technique
Hold the wire near the tips for tight curves. Then rotate your wrist, not the wire, to keep the bend clean. In addition, make several small bends rather than one big one, because that gives you more control and less spring-back.
Setting Up a New Operatory
When you stock a new chair, start with a few core pliers. This one covers light wire work, while a utility plier and a cutter cover the rest. As your case mix grows, you can add loop and torque pliers later.
Keeping the Tips True
Fine tips show wear first. After each case, close the plier and look along the beaks. They should touch at the very end. If one tip sits short, stop using it for precise bends and contact us.
Quality, Warranty and More
We source this plier made to our specification, with inspection done in the United States. ASTM F899 guides our choice of stainless steel. Our pledge is plain and short: three years against manufacturing defects, then a fix or swap if one appears. It leaves our shelf non-sterile. Clean it, sterilize it, and then reuse it for many cases. For a classic light wire pattern, compare the Jarabak plier for light wire. You can also scan our orthodontic instruments or check the FAQ section.
