Description
Ligature Cutters
Our mini and micro ligature cutters snip steel ligature wire close to the bracket. The beaks are fine, so they reach into tight spots. You can buy each size singly.
Two sizes for fine wire
We offer two options. The Mini is rated for .010” to .015” ligature wire. By contrast, the Micro is meant for .009” to .012” wire. So the Micro suits the finest ties, while the Mini covers the common range.
Ties, tails and archwire changes
- Cutting the tail after you tie a steel ligature
- Removing old ties at an archwire change
- Trimming small bits of fine wire
Choosing Mini or Micro
Check the wire you use most. If it is .010” or more, start with the Mini. If you use very fine wire, then the Micro gives a neater cut. In fact, many offices keep both.
Never cut above range
Fine beaks chip if they meet heavy wire. Therefore, keep these cutters for ligature wire only. Use a hard wire cutter for archwire instead.
Closing the edges against a lamp
After cleaning, hold the cutter up to a light and close it. The edges should meet along their length. If you see a gap, stop using it and reach out to us.
Order and support
Our specification decides the design, and each cutter gets a careful inspection in the United States. The stainless steel agrees with ASTM F899. These micro ligature cutters come non-sterile, though cleaning and sterilisation make them ready for repeat use. On each size, we promise three years against manufacturing defects, no matter which you pick. For heavier ties, consider the T.C. pin and ligature cutter.
