Description
Lexer Osteotome Handle From Artificial Wood
This Lexer osteotome pairs a steel blade with a handle made from artificial wood. The broad handle fills the palm, so the surgeon can steer the edge while an assistant taps with a mallet.
Why the handle matters
A round, wide grip spreads the force of each blow across the hand. Because of this, the blade stays where you place it. The artificial wood also feels warmer and less slippery than bare metal when gloves are wet.
Lengths, widths and edges
At 22 cm you can pick 7, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 mm, each straight or curved. The 27.5 cm version comes in 10 and 15 mm with a straight edge. So the longer pair suits deeper approaches, while the short range covers most daily cuts.
Choosing a Lexer osteotome
The pattern honors Erich Lexer, a founder of plastic and reconstructive surgery. Pick a straight edge for clean, linear cuts. Instead, choose a curved edge when the bone surface rolls away from you.

Handle and blade care
Scrub the joint between blade and handle, since debris likes to hide there. Then rinse well and dry the whole instrument. Avoid soaking the handle for long periods, and inspect it for cracks at each service.
Aftercare and help
Any osteotome gets a final look by Atlanta staff before shipment. Our product warranty covering each osteotome spans three years against manufacturing defects as standard. For a sister pattern, try the Lexer gouge with the same handle. Looking for a second opinion on sizing? Email our team and we will reply. For help with an order, use our help page. Surgical stainless steel follows a known standard, namely ASTM F899. Smaller departments hold a backup osteotome for back-to-back cases. Further items appear in our orthopedic listings.
