Description
Knutson Urethrography Clamp, Complete
The Knutson Urethrography Clamp holds a contrast syringe sealed at the urethral meatus during a retrograde urethrogram. The blunt cone tip sits in the meatus, the spring frame holds the penis against it, and the screw lock keeps the nozzle seated, so contrast goes up the urethra instead of leaking back around the tip.
Complete means the full set: the clamp frame, the cannula, the cone and the stopcock. If you only need to replace the cone, it is listed on its own as Cone for Knutson Urethrography Clamp.
Why a clamp rather than a catheter
A balloon catheter in the fossa navicularis can distort the distal urethra, which is the segment a urethrogram is often trying to show. The Knutson clamp seals from the outside, so the anterior urethra fills in its natural shape. Holding the penis at an angle across the thigh while the clamp is on also straightens the urethra for an oblique view.
In use
Seat the cone gently in the meatus, close the spring frame around the shaft, and lock the syringe in place before injecting. The blunt tip is meant for atraumatic placement. The frame keeps the operator’s hands away from the beam during fluoroscopy.
Care
Open the frame fully and release the screw lock before cleaning. Contrast dries in the cone channel and around the screw thread, so flush the channel and brush the thread instead of rinsing from above. Dry completely before reassembly.
