Description
Cone for Knutson Urethrography Clamp
This is the replacement cone for the Knutson urethrography clamp. During a retrograde urethrogram, it sits in the urethral meatus and carries the contrast from the syringe into the urethra.
Buying the instrument for the first time? In that case, choose the Knutson Urethrography Clamp, Complete, which includes the frame, cannula, cone and stopcock.
When to replace the cone
The tip has to seal against the meatus. However, a cone with a nicked or scratched tip seals poorly, so contrast leaks back and you have to repeat the study. For that reason, many departments keep a spare, so the clamp stays in use while one cone is out for reprocessing.
Care
First, flush the cone channel straight after use, before contrast dries inside it. Then brush the channel through and dry it completely before refitting.
