Description
Millin Atrauma Capsule Forceps
The atraumatic member of the Millin capsule family. Where the smooth jawed pattern relies on flat pressure, this one carries fine interlocking teeth that grip the prostatic capsule with less force, which is what you want on tissue that has already been handled or that is wet enough to slide out of a plain jaw.
How it differs from the smooth jawed Millin
Same curved shank, same ring handles, same ratchet. The difference is entirely at the tip. The teeth are shallow and meet rather than interlock deeply, so the hold comes from surface area rather than from bite depth. In practice that means a firmer grip at lower closing pressure, and less marking than a conventional toothed forceps would leave.
Care
Fine teeth trap debris, so brush the jaw faces with the ratchet open and check them against the light before the instrument goes back into a set. A tooth that has picked up a burr will mark tissue rather than hold it. Dry the box joint thoroughly and store with the ratchet released.
