Description
Kane Umbilical Cord Clamp
The Kane umbilical cord clamp secures the cord in the moments after delivery. At about 8.5 cm, this reusable stainless clamp suits any birth tray.
A compact clamp
This clamp measures about 8.5 cm, so it takes up very little space. In addition, the small size makes it easy to place close to the newborn. Also, midwives can seat it with one hand while steadying the baby.
Why choose metal
Metal clamps return to service after each cleaning cycle. Therefore, they reduce the need to reorder disposable clamps. Plus, a few spares in stainless steel make a practical backup for busy units.
On the birth tray
Most teams set two clamps side by side and cut the cord between them. Next, one stays on the placental end while the other holds the baby’s end. Meanwhile, cord scissors wait beside them on the tray.
Kane versus Collin
A Kane umbilical cord clamp comes in a little shorter than the Collin pattern. So units that like a smaller clamp often pick this one. However, both do the same job and both go through normal reprocessing.
Reprocessing Kane umbilical cord clamp
Rinse the clamp under running water right after the delivery. Then soak it briefly in an enzymatic cleaner if blood has started to dry. Finally, inspect the jaws, dry them well and pack the clamp for sterilization.
