Jacobson Vessel Probe

The Jacobson vessel probe is a fine microsurgical probe for exploring and handling small vessels. It measures 18.5 cm and comes straight or angled, with or without a ball tip.

Ball tip or plain

A ball tip presents a rounded end to the vessel wall. By contrast, the plain tip gives a finer point for tight spaces. So choose by how much contact you want.

Straight or angled

The straight version keeps the tip in line with your hand. Meanwhile, the angled version clears the microscope view. Many surgeons keep one of each on the micro tray to switch mid-case.

Microsurgical length

At 18.5 cm, it balances in the hand like a pen. Therefore fine movements stay steady under magnification. Also, the length rests comfortably across the web of the thumb.

Four combinations

Two tip styles and two shapes give four versions of the Jacobson vessel probe. First, pick the ball tip or the plain tip, depending on how you handle vessel walls. Then pick straight or angled for your usual approach.

Cleaning Jacobson vessel probe

Hold it by the handle when cleaning so the tip never bends. Then rinse it gently and dry with a lint-free cloth. Finally, store it in a micro tray with a silicone mat.
