Description
Jacobi Ligature Needle
A Jacobi ligature needle is a handled, curved needle with an eye near the tip. It lets you pass a thread around tissue and pull it back. This one measures 14 cm, which gives a steady reach for orbital and lid work.
How a Ligature Needle Works
First, thread the suture through the eye. Then pass the curved point around the structure you want to tie. Next, catch the strand beyond the tissue, then draw the needle back. Finally, tie the ligature in the usual way.
Why the Jacobi Has a Handle
A free needle in a needle holder can twist in deep or tight spaces. The fixed handle instead gives you a firm grip and a known curve. As a result, the point follows the path you plan.
The Jacobi 14 cm Length
The Jacobi pattern here comes in one size, 14 cm. That length suits work in the orbit and around the lids without crowding the field.
- Fixed handle for a sure grip
- Eye near the point to carry thread
- 14 cm length for steady control
- Reusable after sterilization
Threading Without Fuss
Use a loupe if the eye is small for your suture. Also cut the thread end at an angle, because a clean tip slides through more easily. Do not force a thick thread, since it can strain the eye.
Keeping the Eye Clear
After use, flush the eye with water so no debris stays inside. Then dry the needle well. Before each case, look along the point for any bend.
We send it non-sterile; with sound cleaning and sterilization it serves again and again. The stainless steel tracks ASTM F899, and finished needles pass our checks in the United States. Our promise covers three years against manufacturing defects on this needle. Surgeons who want a longer reach often look at the 15 cm Hessberg pattern.
