Description
Vickers Retractor
Our Vickers retractor comes in two lengths, 14.5 cm and 18 cm. It also offers three dimension options: 12.0 mm, 14.0 mm and 16.0 mm. That gives six possible combinations, so you can match it to the wound you expect.
Reading the Vickers Options
Length sets how far the handle sits from the field. Meanwhile, the millimetre value describes the working end, so a larger number gives a bigger retracting surface. Pick both with your usual case in mind.
Shorter or Longer Vickers
The 14.5 cm length feels quick and easy to hold. On the other hand, the 18 cm length keeps the assistant’s hand further back. That helps when several people work around a small field.
- Lengths: 14.5 cm and 18 cm
- Working end: 12.0, 14.0 or 16.0 mm
- Six size combinations
- Reusable after sterilization
A Cautious Description
We describe the Vickers retractor in general terms. In general, retractors like this hold tissue aside to expose the work. However, check the shape against your own needs before you order.
Building a Vickers Set
Some teams keep two sizes on the tray. For example, a 12 mm end for small incisions and a 16 mm end for larger ones. Then the scrub nurse can swap quickly. That saves time when the wound turns out larger than planned.
Vickers Cleaning Notes
Brush the working end on both faces. Next, rinse and dry fully. Also check the edges for burrs before you pack the retractor.
Vickers retractors ship non-sterile, ready for reuse after each cleaning and sterilization cycle. We use stainless steel that follows ASTM F899 and check pieces in the United States. Any size you choose includes three years against manufacturing defects. For a low-profile design with a center blade, see the Vickers low-profile retractor.
