Description
Hylin Root Elevators
Hylin root elevators give you four figures for loosening roots. Fig. 1 carries a 4.5 mm tip. Fig. 2, Fig. 3 and Fig. 4 each have a 3 mm tip. So you can choose a wide or a narrow working end before the case starts.
Choosing Between the 4.5 mm and 3 mm Tips
Tip width is the main choice here. A wider tip shares the load across a bigger area of root, which suits a firm, larger root with room around it. A 3 mm tip, by contrast, slips into a tighter space with less bone in the way. Many keep both widths close and switch as the root gives.

How a Hylin Tip Does Its Work
First, seat the tip in the PDL space along the root. Then use a small wedge or turn to lift the root in its socket. Keep a firm finger rest near the site. Also, the tooth next door is no fulcrum, unless it is due to come out as well.
Three Slim Figures, One Broad One
Since three figures share the 3 mm width, the difference between them lies beyond the tip size. Try each one on a model before you commit. Hylin root elevators are easy to add one at a time, because every figure sells on its own.
Keeping the Hylin Tips Keen
A sharp tip enters the ligament space with less push. After each case, scrub debris off before it dries. Next, look at the edge under good light for nicks. Hone a rolled edge lightly.
Ordering and Aftercare
Hylin stainless steel is chosen to follow ASTM F899, and we write the specification ourselves before a stateside check of every piece. Expect it non-sterile in the parcel; wash and autoclave it, and it is good for many cases. Any flaw in the making gets a full three years against manufacturing defects. For a different family, compare the Miller root elevators. You can also browse our full root elevator range or read the Intrace FAQs.
